Garmin is not waiting around with its latest development cycle. Having recently pushed a beta update to the Fenix 8, Tactix 8 and others with nearly 20 changes from a prior build, the company has not started rolling out a fresh update that brings even more bug fixes and new features to the party.
Smartwatch Wearable Software
Garmin is wasting no time in deploying another firmware package to its latest smartwatches enrolled on its Beta Program. In the last week or so, the company has delivered a spate of new builds to the Enduro 3, Fenix E, Fenix 8 and Tactix 8 (curr. $1,299 on Amazon) in the pursuit of a future stable update. To that end, Beta Version 15.22 arrived only a few days ago with an 18-line changelog.
Now, it has returned with Beta Version 15.23, which takes the total changes from Stable Version 13.35 to well over 125. In short, Beta Version 15.23 follows the trend of prior beta updates. Garmin has decided to focus on resolving outstanding bugs, of which there are many. Specifically, we count 17 in Beta Version 15.23 to match the number that its predecessor featured. With that being said, the new beta update also brings in an arrival alert when navigating and a Multisport category in the Activity List, which are both welcome additions.
For now, Garmin has not revealed when to expect a new stable update to arrive. The volume of bug fixes contained within Beta Version 15.23 suggests that there is a fair bit of development left before Garmin considers transitioning its latest round of beta development to its stable software branch. Typically, the enablement of Aviation, Dive and ECG features are indications that a new stable update is almost ready. However, these remain disabled in the company's latest beta update. The full changelog for Beta Version 15.23 is as follows:
